Cheri Johnson joined Woman’s in 2006 and has more than 25 years of nursing experience. Prior to being named Chief Nursing Officer, Johnson served as Woman’s Vice President of Perinatal Services, overseeing all aspects of the hospital experience for women before and after birth, and as Director of Obstetrical Services.
Johnson was named Louisiana State Nurses Association Nurse of the Year in 2011, and is an exceptional leader and a passionate advocate for women and infants. Johnson has worked tirelessly to support Woman’s mission within the community and region by serving on various committees and task forces including Baby Safe Haven, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Fetal Infant Mortality Review, March of Dimes, Medicaid Quality OB/MFM Subcommittee, Perinatal Associated Mortality Review Subcommittee and the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative.
Johnson also leads several health care initiatives to improve perinatal outcomes with a significant decrease in perinatal harm. She received the 2006 Safe Motherhood Champion Award from the American College of Nurse-Midwives and White Ribbon Alliance, and the 2006 Distinguished Volunteer Service Award from the March of Dimes. She currently serves as a Community Advisory Board member of Louisiana Lighthouse for the Blind. Additionally, she has spoken nationally on numerous topics concerning the healthcare of obstetrical patients and their infants.
