THE LUCKY LAW FIRM

AFTER LEARNING THE ropes at much larger firms in the area, partners Robert Lucky and Michael Malinowski knew they wanted more of a personal touch at a firm with their names attached. The Lucky Law Firm opened in 2010 with a three-room office on North Boulevard and a promise to always pick up the phone. Since then, Lucky and Malinowski have expanded to a much larger building on Government Street and opened a New Orleans office as well. This growth has broadened their practice and allowed them to bring that personal service to even more clients in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and beyond.
“We wanted to have a hands-on approach from the very beginning,” says Lucky. “We’re the ones who meet with clients, we’re the ones talking to clients the majority of the time. Our clients feel comfortable calling us even if it’s just to ask for advice.”
All cases are handled with a team approach, and part of the firm’s promise includes staff available to answer calls 24/7, notary services provided free of charge, and assistance in arranging medical care and even transportation.
“That promise is what we go by, that’s what our goal is every day—to make sure that we fulfill all those promises and keep the clients happy,” says Lucky.
The firm’s primary focus is automobile accidents and some personal injury, but they have also added title services through a new division called MidCity Title LLC. “We’ll handle title searches on residential properties being purchased, and we’ll be the closing spot for people who are purchasing homes,” says Lucky.
While MidCity Title will give Baton Rouge clients a convenient location to seal the deal on a home, those in the New Orleans market can also benefit from The Lucky Law Firm and MidCity Title’s services. An office on Poydras Street will help expand the firm’s footprint in New Orleans—Malinowski grew up in the city—and serve as a gateway to business along the Gulf Coast.
Lucky is also licensed in Mississippi and says the duo’s growth plan includes the outlying areas of New Orleans on into south Mississippi.
No matter how much they grow, LSU Law Center grads Malinowski and Lucky won’t forget their original goal or those clients who have stayed with them and provided referrals over the years. The firm’s commitment to community service and groups like the Battered Women’s Shelter of Baton Rouge, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Louisiana, Donaldsonville All-Stars, McMains Children’s Development Center, One Eye Foundation, Project Lazarus and the Holiday Star program through the Baton Rouge Bar Association is an outgrowth of those client relationships.
“We’ve gotten to know our clients over the years—some for over 10 years—and we understand the struggles they go through,” says Lucky. “Without the community, we wouldn’t have any clients. I’ve always thought it was very important to give back. We’ve grown and we’ve become successful because of the people that keep coming back to us.”
