We are proud to offer one hospital with an emergency department, 12 health clinics, a 24/7 emergency department in our Iberville Medical Complex and three urgent cares for convenient care right in your own backyard. FULLY ACCREDITED
As a fully accredited hospital, we offer all-private rooms, 24-hour emergency care, a newly renovated Family Birthing Center and alternative delivery options, including water births and a comprehensive certified nurse midwife program. The hospital has advanced specialty care such as open-heart surgery, orthopedic programs, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, robotic-assisted surgery and high-definition endoscopy. Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge has been designated a Gyn Epicenter for the da Vinci® Surgical System and also offers advanced 3-D mammography screenings.   

The Family Birthing Center at the hospital features six labor and delivery rooms, two built-in birthing tubs, two cesarean rooms, and a Level III NICU. Our team of certified nurse midwives and OB/GYNs provide moms and their families a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere to welcome their new addition, all within a full-service, acute-care hospital setting. 

In August 2014, Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge became the first hospital in Louisiana to receive the prestigious international recognition as a Baby-Friendly designated birth facility. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Based on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, this prestigious award highlights birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. 

In 2014, CareChex® named Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge No. 1 in Baton Rouge for medical excellence in nine specialties, including Overall Hospital Care, Overall Surgical Care, Cardiac Care, Major Cardiac Surgery, Coronary Bypass Surgery, Gastrointestinal Care, General Surgery, Interventional Coronary Care and Pneumonia Care. Additionally, Ochsner Baton Rouge was named No. 1 in Louisiana for Coronary Bypass Surgery, as well as in the top 10% in the nation for eight different specialties, including Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care and Overall Surgical Care.

As the health care industry continues to change at a rapid pace, we are committed to keeping up with our patients’ needs. In the fast-paced environment we live in, our patients demand convenient, reliable access to health care at their fingertips. That’s why we’ve developed MyOchsner. 

MyOchsner offers patients personalized and secure on-line access to portions of their medical reecords. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health. With MyOchsner, you can use the Internet to: request and schedule medical appointments, pay medical bills, view your health summary from the MyOchsner electronic health record, view test results, request prescription renewals, access trusted health information resources, and communicate electronically and securely with your medical care team. Once you have a MyOchsner account, our team of clinicians across the system will be able to access and update your information no matter where you are, creating a truly integrated approach to your care. 

Additionally, to continue creating access for our patients, in the coming months Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge will launch a pilot program with Healthgrades^® to showcase extensive physician profiles. These physician profiles will allow you the opportunity to “get to know” your provider before scheduling that initial appointment.  

In April 2015, HIMSS Analytics™ awarded Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge with a Stage 7 Award—making it the second hospital to receive this designation across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee. HIMSS Analytics developed the Eletronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical records systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database. The final stage, Stage 7, represents an advanced patient record environment. This designation recognizes the ability to enhance data continuity and accessibility for our patients and to impact the future of health care by creating a seamless patient experience.
